The Shining

I mean truely what a way to be introduced to Kubrick. Seeing the shinning extended version on imax was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. From knowing very little about the story and the director style of Stanley Kubrick I was blown away in every way by this movie. First off, the obvious but the performances in this movie are top top top tier as everyone knows, I mean jack Nicolson is truely frightening in every way but still keeping this calm energy about him right up until he snaps and it is balanced so perfectly. The score of this movie was probably my biggest positive however, as Kubrick uses this in conjunction with his camera movement to really increase the tension, every time this score started going my heart rate grew and grew and even though during the first and second act a lot of this lead to a non jumpscare moment but I was still on the edge of my seat everytime.  This film is truely magical though and is one of my favourites and I’m so glad I got to experience in imax
