A great reminder that we should cherish the family we have.
Not only that but we need to remember that our family can still fall short, just like we can. We are all humans who fall short of the glory of God.
I am so glad this movie did not villainize the father as much as it seemed it would in the beginning. All he wants is for his family to have a good future. He wants his family to be able to be together. He wants a strong family. He is in no way in the wrong.
This movie did amazing things in all categories for me. The camerawork is beyond amazing, using so many different styles throughout different aspect ratios it sets each tone so well. The colors of each scene convey they exact emotion they want you to. The whole film still, however, allows for the viewer to believe in the future, instead of being outright told.
For me what won this was in the final montage the scene of the son praying in prison.
