holy sound design the production on this is really amazing. the blocking. the occasional beautiful shot. the uncomfortable acting. the realistic approach that doesn’t glorify war. really good movie.

darn it i can be a real jerk some times. mate i had not fangirled this hard in a cinema for SO long. undoubtedly the best superhero project in a minute and ARGUABLY the best on screen iteration of last son of krypton. this heartfelt blockbuster provides us with such a true and loving homage to the classic idea of Superman and his surrounding environment. Gunn has successfully utilised the most well defining feats of every character to create a real fan service film WITHOUT making it a multiversal(?) and a cameo dependant movie. Lois - a no nonsense reporter who strives for a story by any means. she’s a logical thinker who fights against emotionally charged actions and would much rather focus on finding the truth, than finding the heart. her heart isn’t cold, in fact quite the opposite, just lacks the exposure and/or opportunity to show it and therefore doesn’t know how, all she knows is excellence. Lex - he breathes nothing but hatred. his motives stem from spite and more spite. similar to Lois he likes to think two steps ahead, however there’s NO ethical line he won’t cross. he will achieve his goal at the expense of billions of lives if necessary and wouldn’t hesitate to call the shots. there is no talking him out of his anger, he’s blinded by it. Superman - simple: a man raised on a farm learning his place in the world despite having the power to hold it between his fingertips. he acts out of love and nothing but. he’s not naive, but rather incredibly optimistic. no matter the circumstances he believes that there’ll somehow be a solution without having to raise a hand. we see in this film time and time again he would rather cop a beating than allow himself to cross the line lex effortlessly tramples over. he’s someone who wants to be apart of mankind, but nt lose his abilities. he recognises his duty with such given powers. these details i promise you translate so wonderfully in this movie man i almost cried. it reminds me so much of Reeves’ films with the dynamics alone. that scene of superman storming the office for krypto IS SO HACKMAN AND REEVES IN SUPERMAN I. lex the rage baiting queen wants complete control. superman wants freedom for all. lois wants truth. what they all have in common is that they are slaves to their ideologies, and THAT is what is perfect abt this movie. BRO EVEN TESSMOCHER IS DONE SO WELL MAN. an inbetween goonette of luthor who in no means is a bad person, just capable of making shitty decisions. i could keep writing abt the characters man. BUT GOOD GOD, O RPOMISE U EVERY LEAD AND SUPPORT IS DONE BEAUTIFULLY. the story is great. as mentioned before this does a great job at reminiscing on the most defining parts of the hero’s journey, but it also leaves room for a very very promising future. good vs bad with the complexities of master manipulation at play and truer intentions being revealed. again. i love the fact that luthors need for control and land is still sonprevelant in this. the viewing of the map. PHEWWWWWW. ABSOLUTE CINEMA. doesn’t get more superhero than that. UGH ONE THING INLOVE (if not the whole fkn movie) is the fact that superman doesn’t quit. he gets fricken battered this movie and every time he gets up. UGHHH. I CANT HELP BUT THINK ON THE MOVIES I GREW UP WITH MAN. the fac that no matter what holds him down, emotional, or physical, he’ll always fly in and save the day. no matter what or where OR WHO he will fight to save one more life. to him all life is sacred, even at the expense of his own. i’m so reminded of Superman Returns man. UGH. UNDERRATED GEM. okay i will admit tho. the cgi was wonky at points. but i promise you, that is so easily overlooked when the rest of the movie is just this good. the more i talk about it the more my appreciation for the film grows. I COULD WRITE MORE BUT MY PHONE ABT TO DIE SO IG ILL HRB FOR ANOTHER FOUR MILLION WORDS. GOATED. EDIT + 1/2 STAR AND WE BACK BITCHES. my gosh there has to be a better way to do this YES. this movie is such a great portrayal of the man in red underwear. I FELT the restraint superman has. it’s no secret that in this he gets battered, it’s the very first shot we were ever shown of the film. but with that and the portrayal of his “all life is sacred” ideology, I FELT that this movie shows the fact that he always pulls his punches he has when fighting for earth. his initial instinct is to save lives not damage them and we can see this in his fighting style. he’s not the one to throw the first punch in his fights and in the middle of the fight he will go out of the way to protect others before himself. while he’s protecting, he has others on his side FIGHTING. what THIS does, is give the sorta idea that it takes a village to raise a baby, but in this case, it takes a team to protect the people. with him carrying the load of nurturing life around him, it opens up the space for others to fight and who have no problem in doing damage. an all powerful being who could most definitely wrap things up fast doesn’t, and that is what makes him super. he holds himself back from allowing the heat of the battle get the better of him and would much rather fall down bloodied and broken because he knows he’ll get back up again. THAT is what makes him super. his restraint. his love for others. his openness to being in a team and his frustratingly persistent and optimistic heart. he acknowledges he’s not a god, not a figure, and not an IT, but someone who just wants to do the right thing in every situation. yep i added another half a star. this mf is perfect to me. i fuckin love it so much the more i think abt what it did for my heart and soul. ugh the cinematography. yeah. you cooked dawg. again icl the cgi wonky at points, but there are so many fun and creative camera movements that help me fly alongside him man. rhere are shots that spoke volumes to the character dynamics. especially the parralel back and forth at the end between the cocky grin and crying sad face. UGH. LOVEEE the introduction to these characters are wonderful and so fun. THE SCORE IS PHENOMENAL. UGHHH BRO I WAS SO HYPEDDDDD UGHHHFEHSHBDJFJDJDJSNS SO GOOD yknow thinking abt it, this rlly made me realise why gunn opened up a new universe with another superman film. not only because he’s the face of the franchise, but because what the film does is give an open sense of hope for better days to come. the film is such a great hit of nostalgia while attributing to an openness to a new future of fun we have never seen in live action yet. it gives hope that not only is the future of this new world in good heroic hands, but amazing directorial ones too. we are about to witness greatness THE GUNN NEVER MISSES

i am so serious when i say that this may be up there with some of the greatest final chapters of a trilogy in any franchise ever. the production value in this is astronomically more creative and better looking, the songs are absolutely heartwrenchingly well written and sound fricken awesome, AND ZAC EFRON HELLO?????? the pinnacle of man featured in the pinnacle of cinema. it’s only been a steep downward spiral after this released. so grateful to have shown my baby cousin this for the first time. the tears are a canon event babe dw.

if my entire family’s lives were on the line and the only way to save them was by telling you a thorough understanding of the films message and plot, i am so sorry but they are so screwed. the film felt messy with its variation of content, but so captivating with its visuals and score. from this we get incredible performances, sexy camera angles and zooms, an interesting take on witchy figures posing as a production company, but the other stuff completely went way over my head. is that to the fault of the film? absolutely not. i’m dense. and this is definitely the film to watch maybe a second time for a true understanding, but the other factors of the doctor’s wife and context of nazi germany felt random to me. we’re they meant to symbolise something greater ? idk. just felt awkward for me amongst such a spiritually driven environment. BUT with that being said. through that stuff, i fricken loved it. it’s so gross and disgusting and yuck and unnerving and weird but man oh man did it keep me invested. i sincerely had no idea the film was as long as it was. as mentioned before the production aspects of the film were so wonderful to me the typography, sound design, colour grading, camerawork, metaphors were rlly interesting and had me sooo immersed into the screen. the film very much gives arronofsky’s “mother!” with the violently driven narrative using themes of sacrifice for spiritual rebirth. the body horror was fricken brutal i never have to look away from screens until now. it was a really thrilling experience it built such great suspense throughout its entirety. the movie felt like a theatre production if that makes any sense. it’s subject matter is so grim supported by hypnotically disturbing visuals and gruelling physical actions really really brought smth out of me idk. I WAS SO TAKEN BACK that i was watching man. it was not what i was expecting at all and was the LAST thing i’d expect from my first film in a while. WHEN I TELL YOU i was srsly expecting a black swan sorta film abt someone rlly becoming devoted to dancing. THEN ID HEAR VOICES DOWN A DARK HALL. hell nah after letting the film marinate for a bit i grew a better appreciation and like it a little more. AHH i fricken love it yeah this is goated - tilda swinton is awesome- dakota johnson without bangs was genuinely unrecognisable - thank you mia goth for being
