I feel like her when I double text If the Nikki Freeman Letterboxd account likes this review 😭😭

I think there’s some technical moments in here that on a smaller screen (I watched this on my tv) don’t look as good as seeing it in the cinema. Despite that, this film is really refreshing as a superhero film in general and as a first in its universe too. The best creative decision was in not doing a superman origin story because it’s literally the most well known superhero origin story of all time. I also think that the films message was really important in today and the way it has impacted so many people makes me really happy- literally hopecore.

As much as I think this film is incredibly varied in quality- there’s aspects that I love and other aspects I’m not as keen on- it does have one of the best supporting casts of the 21st century. The directing and cinematography (I think) are too derivative of both Manhunter and Silence of the Lambs which really lets it down. (The director is also an all time POS which doesn’t help the film). (The MCU style reference to Clarice at the end also made me laugh because I forgot they did that and I was so caught off guard)

Potential hidden gem of 2026 since I’ve literally seen no advertisements or press for this. Literally one of my favourites I’ve seen this year so far. This is the 3.8/3.9 on Letterboxd that’ll fuck you up😭
