Materialists

If in the examination of the dehumanization of dating and how it's a business transaction wherein parties try anything to maximize their desired return you wind up using the trauma of a tertiary character to jolt the protagonist back into viewing people as people's the ultimate message of the movie undermined? I'm not sure. This isn't the glossy return to early aughts romcoms, but everyone here really brought their a game. Evans and Winter in particular, with Zoe probably giving my favorite performance in the film. I wish Pascal brought any of the energy from the press tour to the film, but I get that's not this character.  Materialist won't be a movie I put on bas a comfort watch like I might have expected going in, but I can definitely see myself revisiting this at least once more in theatres.
