Morbius
How do I even begin to describe this experience? The word film is an understatement and a disservice to this impeccable and flawless piece of art. Let us begin with the plot. This is the first entry in the Morbiverse that looks to have hundreds, nay thousands of future entries. Therefore it serves as an origin story for our protagonist, Dr. Michael Morbius. Dr. Michael Morbius, who hereafter will be known as He, Him, or the Exalted One was born with an unnamed physical disease that inhibited his ability to walk, but sure did not inhibit his intellect. The choice to leave the disease unnamed allows every single member of the audience to relate to the Exalted One in one way or another. Maybe your disease is a fear of talking to girls. Maybe it is a peanut allergy. Maybe it is the fact that you haven’t even seen Morbius (2022) yet. But whatever it is, we are all like Him in at least 1 way. The Exalted One goes through his life in a hospital with roommates whom he all names Milo, after a long deceased roommate of his. This is yet another genius directing tactic used by director Daniel Espinosa to immerse the audience in the Morbiexperience, because we by having all of the roommates be named Milo, the Exalted One is truly welcoming us into his story. To cure his disease, Morbius turns into a vampire which cures his disease but also gives Him an insatiable craving for blood that must be sated in decreasing intervals or He will go goblin mode and then Milo turns himself into a vampire and he bites Morb’s girlfriend and almost kills her and then they have a vampire fight and then Morbius kills Milo oops that’s a spoiler and then He flies off into the night as a protector and savior for the city of New York City based off of a real city by the same name.
Stay tuned for the continuation of my review.
