Ricochet
There may be bigger, bolder, more awe-inspiring productions to have graced the silver screen, but as a pure distillation of mania and sleaze, this is quite simply the most ridiculous and psychotic film ever made. As an action movie, it's insane. As a psychological thriller, it's insane. As a black comedy, by the grace of the Lord you know damn well it's insane. Ricochet is operating on a higher wavelength than previously thought possible that requires the viewer to make a lot of concessions about the nature of our reality. Simply put, this is a film beamed from another planet where they've yet to figure out how people interact with each other. So what you've got here is two of our greatest living actors going bar for bar in what may just be the trashiest thriller to ever get a wide release NOT directed by Brian De Palma. It's basically a studio backed exploitation film. This is John Lithgow at his maddest, and you know that's saying something. This is his performance in Blow Out + Raising Cain + Dexter multiplied by about 700 billion on the crazy meter. Genuinely might be an all-timer performance here, not just by him but by literally anyone ever. Same with Denzel Washington. Content warnings are very much abound with this one. This one is only for the sickest of sickos. Add this to the list of films I NEED to see in a sold-out cinema.
