Serial Experiments Lain
I have no words. I don't know how to talk about this, because I have no idea what happened. Well I have some idea, but it's so dense, surreal, complex, philosophical, abstract, buzzword, buzzword, buzzword that I just can't put into words my feelings on it, except that I liked it, a lot. A whole lot. The visuals are stunning, just super out there and wicked. Supreme ass avant-garde imagery on display here. The turn of the century ever looming tech paranoia throughout the whole series is something I adore in media from this era, and this might just be the best use of said concept. Psychological surreal cyberpunk horror is the best kind of anything really. This was a lot to take in and having finally seen some videos explaining what the hell happened, I kinda get it, or at least understand it a bit more. Not the greatest anime I've ever seen, but definitely the most mindfucky.
