Great performances by both Kyle Gallner and Samara Weaving. A few twists and turns I didn’t expect, but at the end I pretty much had it figured out. Good to see Jon Gries as well. Some of the bar scenes are beautifully lit. Very stylized and moves very quickly.

Blood rain is maybe the coolest thing in any Evil Dead movie. You think David is going to be the Ash archetypal hero but I love that it’s not how it plays out. Mia is among the best deadites of all, and Jane Levy gives a great performance. Natalie is undercooked as a character, and I can’t really get my arms around some aspects of the book. Fede Alvarez is a visionary and I’d like to see him put his flavor into another franchise

As revolting as any film in this franchise. This movie is just visceral. Mean to every character human or otherwise. The deadites are maybe least memorable in terms of look, but what they do is unlike any other in the 5 movies before. I do think the deadites should be more annoying, but that’s just what I like about the originals. They make you feel like you need to get out, like Ash. They drive you crazy. In a franchise full of heroic final characters, Alice brings another badass character to it. The final Deadite form is better than the booger monster in Rise.
