Decision to Leave
Shattered: to be ruined or broken. This movie could very well be a 5. It’s pacing is fantastic. The cinematography reminds me of the directors previous movie Old Boy (with at times comic strip like transitions) but with a more refined, meaningful edge to it. Like Drive My Car, the movie’s commentary on language may speak to the difficulty faced when communicating to audiences through subtitles—I’ve never sat through a film and wanted to learn Korean more. Ultimately, I think the story is about what will allow our insomniac main character to rest. Will it be fulfillment in his job or the pursuit of his desires.
