La Haine
French cinema is so freaking good! In a lot of ways this movie shares so much with the New Wave stuff—the slice of life plot, kids acting as adults, obvious hatred towards authority, and american cultural influences. Brought into the modern world with modern struggles, this style continues to support difficult discussions. While this film looks great, the camerawork is accessible (few shots are overly refined), showing that anyone could employ this style, at any point in time, to tell their story. Really liked the movie and would definitely recommend.
