Just a great fun time, a film that revolutionized the form, and still holds up, it’s more than just a classic popcorn movie from the 70s, its camerawork, cinematography, composition, and music are all very technically well executed, a film that helped define the modern landscape we now know. I can also see quite a few of Kurosawa’s influences, at times it feels one of his films, knowing Toshiro Minfune could have been Obi-Wan is so interesting to me. Anyway, great movie, great franchise, I fucking love Star Wars.

Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s *Drive My Car* is a phenomenal, great, and quiet piece of work that respects the nuance and contradictions of human beings, it’s all very sincere. Clocking in at 3 hours and being filled with contemplative shots, conversations, and subtext, this film could have been long winded, but I myself was not bored once, around 1h45m in It started to feel like a long enthusiastic hike rather than a 2 mile run. To me that’s impressive. The performances were great and so subtle which had a affect on me, I was drawn in and somewhat excited, the cinematography is also subtle too, it created this realist natural city look that worked very well, technically, narratively, and emotionally, *Drive My Car *is fantastic.
