This was great! I loved the balance of genres most specifically, as the slasher/drama worked perfectly for me. Just the right amount of exposition, gore, and sex was used wonderfully. The themes are what I really like about this movie, as sexual repression and the bounds between pleasure and fantasy as you grow old are very interesting commentaries. Mia goth is also just an icon in this, along with Jenna Ortega being wonderful as well. I do just have an issue with redundancies in slashers, and I won't spoil anything, but the ending was further from cliche than I expected. The killer old person trope does get a little much though, whereas this does get a little iffy for me. I do like how this is combated with the more drama-infused plot though. I'm excited to watch pearl and maxxxine, as I would like to see some backstory/motives, and because I had such a great time with this.

This was a pleasant surprise. First of all, the acting was very good. Olivia Wilde is slowly becoming my favorite actress, and between this and the invite (along with behemoth!), she's for sure my favorite of the year. Interesting plot and some great commentary on sexual desires between generations. Definitely some very nihilistic ideas in here twisted with erotic scenes, which are just the type of artsy bits I love. I did have a couple of issues, as it was a tad redundant and this definitely wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing film. Still great nonetheless, and im excited to dive more into araki's work.
