Gladiator

I'm sure I've seen this movie before when I was younger, but I can't remember for the life of me. Ridley Scotts Roman Empire epic is loud its booming and its a mastery of cinematic production, the sets are colossal, the costumes are grandiose and the narrative is monumental, Russell Crowe owns it with his thunderous, earsplitting portrayal of Maximus, and Joaquin Phoenix plays an emotional loser so commandingly yet so subtle, how he didn't win an Oscar for this is beyond me.
