DOOR is not only a bonkers B movie that cresendos into violence perfectly, but is indeed one of the best home invasion films I’ve seen! The door as a simple metaphor of urban fears, such as scamming salespeople, mistrusting neighbors, and the numerous crank calls provide great texture to the very real surroundings of this 80s Japanese housewife. Even the infamous door scene from THE SHINING was referenced well. The chase scene from above the apartment layout is landmark filmmaking.  I might have a bias because the color green is my favorite but the strong use of green everywhere from walls, elavator lifts, public phones and even the chainsaw was delightful. To think that this masterpiece could have just as easily dissappeared makes me shudder.
