Inside
Part of MIFF 2024 Program:
Quite a tragic story, which felt very authentic for most of it. The characters are designed to challenge you, and challenge your perception of what is good. Because of this the performances needed to be strong and I think for the most part they were. Cosmo Jarvis is such a fantastic actor, he really disappears in this role entirely. Guy Pearce is another highlight and proves himself to be yet again, one of our finest actors working today.
There’s several plot holes and writing weaknesses that negatively affect the film more in reflection. A few ideas seemingly get abandoned and never mentioned again, and there’s also some head scratching moments of absurdity in a film that’s supposed to be entirely “realistic”.
