Brother Bear
This will hopefully be my longest Letterboxd review. I am so pissed I haven't seen this sooner because it has changed my life for the better.
Disney: “It’s just a film about a man who transforms into a Bear, don’t go crazy”
Brother Bear stands out as a shining example of Disney's storytelling ability, blending some of the most stunning 2D animation I have seen Disney do, heartfelt themes, and featured some of the most lovable characters and sidekicks in an unforgettable film. The animation is set to the majestic wilderness of Alaska with breathtaking detail, making the landscape seem hand painted on the screen. At its core, the film is a tale of transformation and the power of brotherly love. The film's ability to tackle deep themes with so much humor and sensitivity sets it apart from all the other movies in the Disney catalog. Despite its lighthearted moments, Brother Bear dives into emotional territory, bringing up topics of grief and the association of all living beings. The dynamic between Kenai and Koda and the rest of the characters provides plenty of laughs and touching moments that tugged very hard at my heartstrings. Phil Collin does it once more with his enchanting soundtrack which adds a layer of emotion to the story, with each song complementing the story perfectly, similarly to Tarzan. Brother Bear is the definition of a perfect animated film that captivated me with its stunning animation, heartfelt storytelling, and a great cast of characters. Whether you're a longtime fan of the film or experiencing it for the first time like I did, this Disney gem is sure to leave you feeling connected to the world around you. If you made it to the end of the review, your fuckin nuts. You just read a 250 word review on a movie about animated bears. You silly goose.
