Oppenheimer

This is 110% Christopher Nolan‘s best film Cillian Murphys portrayal of J Robert Oppenheimer was absolutely incredible, in fact all the performances in this movie were good. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Robert Downey Jr.’s performance stood out as one of the best. Everything about this movie stood out, the sound and scale of this film with the IMAX visuals and beautiful score by Ludwig Goranson work so perfectly. It builds the tension impeccably and really enhances the immersion, which is something that Christopher Nolan does so well. That standout scene with the Trinity test is so freaking perfect. The intentional use of silence throughout the film is great, but it especially shines in the scene. There are lots of historical biopics that aren’t as interesting or cover topics that don’t appeal to me, but this was really engaging. The three hour runtime didn’t bother me either, which was something I wasn’t expecting. Normally with three hour films, or just longer films in general, I don’t feel as inclined to rewatch them, but this film is something I would love to watch again really soon. This film is easily gonna go down as one of my favorites of all time and one of the greatest ever made.
