Sinners
This was such a welcome surprise. First of all, Ryan Coogler is an amazing director, and I’m so excited to watch more of his films. I thought the setting and time period of the film was really interesting and unique. I love the south and all of that history and stuff so it was a bonus to me. I loved the switch in video formats. The way the screen changed the size and shape was so perfect and effective in telling the story.
Speaking of the story, the way it was told was perfect, like actually perfect. Michael B Jordan did such a good job playing two different roles and honestly, I was really surprised by the performance from that one kid. I think his name is Miles Canton. The post credit scene I thought added a lot to the story and made it more intriguing.
The film also had one of the most fun, cool and entertaining last hour of a movie I’ve ever seen. Definitely top five in that aspect. I also thought the way that they did the vampires in the film were really cool. The way they use a lot of traditional rules for vampires while mixing in some newer stuff and a different approach I thought was brave and that they executed it perfectly.
100% the best film of 2025 (for now) and I don’t think it’s gonna be topped. I totally understand how this was the most Oscar nominated film of all time and definitely one that is in my top 10 as of right now.
