The Pianist
**LETS GO #500
**
oh my God, oh my God. Let’s start out by saying Adrian Brody has officially solidified himself as one of my five favorite actors of all time. Roman Polanski is such a great director, despite his horrible actions as a person. I mean like this film genuinely just changed my life. I had such high expectations coming into this because it was my 500th film ever and it just so delivered. My genuine love for this film is like nothing I’ve ever felt before. It made me feel these emotions, I didn’t know it could make me feel.
The first hour and 30 minutes of the movie were pretty slow and just kind of felt like all story building. I went in the last hour kind of telling myself. I need this last hour to be like really really good. And oh my God, did it deliver. That was the best hour of a movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life and now I fully get the first hour and 30 minutes and what I was trying to do. It’s got that perfect mix of story building and dialogue in the first hour and 30 minutes. The next 20 to 30 minutes, focus on more action and the late war and how it’s affecting everybody in Poland. But just that last 30 minutes alone is one of the greatest pieces of film I’ve ever seen.
The most emotionally impactful scene I’ve ever seen in a film happened in this movie. This is not technically a spoiler, but our main character plays the piano for a German soldier and his spared of his life due to him playing the most beautiful song I have ever heard in my entire life. that scene right there I would say is my favorite scene in cinema history. The ending is perfect too. It had me so on edge and it came to the glorious conclusion that just brought everything together perfectly.
My final thoughts. Some of the best acting I’ve ever seen from Adrien Brody, a beautiful demonstration of elite direction, and finally the most unique cinematography I’ve ever seen. The angle of the camera in every scene is totally different which makes the film so much more fun. This film is gonna consume my thoughts in my brain for the rest of eternity. Honestly, a 10 out of 10 film with not a single thing I would correct.
