oh no vincet gallo is so sad and has such a hard life wa wa wa im a cynical misogynistic prick la la la. Fit is hard though.
In all seriousness, I can really see why people HATE this film, I wanted to punch Gallo’s character at a few points, but I think it’s also pretty genius, the way in which he showed his family dynamics, which slowly revealed the psychology behind his characters horrible motivations and the way in which he acted. It becomes obvious after a bit of time how low his self esteem is and how it reflects him as a person.
I actually think Gallo manipulates the viewer in a lot of ways, I mean we should hate this character right?! - he’s such a disgusting person, yet I ended up feeling bad for him, maybe in the same way when we see a scabby dog on the street all alone. Some super cool stylised camera work in my opinion, especially towards the end. And I really appreciated the editing style. Even some heavy Lynchian vibes at some point.
