Look Back
Then why do you draw?
As an artist myself I have faced this question many times, and every time I just pause—and think why exactly do I do this seemingly “useless” or time consuming activity when I can lend time to better things. And for a kid forming his identity through artistry facing this kind of question is a definitely an interesting experience.
Despite not having an answer yet for this question I just had to keep on going, I wanted to go on and improve my craft with no particular reason I know of. I just did despite all kinds of hardships and doubts, when there are times I think of giving up. But I just kept on going, and I don’t exactly know why. Even when I go through endless back-pains and aches, I just wanted to keep on going.
And this film helped me quite literally look back to my own artistic journey and find my why—to keep on going with this journey and find my why did I started doing all this. I didn’t have a Kyomoto or Fujino to fuel my artistry, because I was both of them. I relate and feel for both of them. Fujino continued to create because of Kyomoto and vice versa, and I continue to create because I know the child inside me yearns to be expressed and heard, and it is through art I can express him.
My inner child is the Kyomoto to the Fujino of my current self.
