Conclave

This is superb. Manages to stay immensely tense throughout despite the lack of life-and-death stakes usually on the line in thrillers like this. Brilliant performances from all involved, particularly Ralph Fiennes (one of my all-time favourites) and Stanley Tucci. Some of the shots of the Vatican and the Roman artwork and architecture were beautiful and really contrasted well with the war going on within the walls. This was particularly interesting to me as I went to an RC school, even though I am not now, but even still, the selection of the Pope was not something ever explained at school so it was interesting to see what that process looks like. It was interesting exploring the different factions of Catholicism and how the grandeur and tradition of Roman Catholicism meets with modern times (such as the vaping Cardinal). However, I do think that the script and premise are good enough to exist in many different settings that involve a transition of power. The discoveries and little plots were great throughout and the final twist was interesting and a rewarding ending.
