Evil dead continues to kill it. It may be one of the best horror franchises currently. The last 3 evil dead movies have all taken a more serious turn and I love that they all feel different. Burn takes some notes from the French extremity movement and mixes them in perfectly. I only have one question though. Which necronomicon do I have to read to get my Girl Mia from evil dead 2013 back ? Because I'll do it. Evil dead burn takes the tried and tested grief and family trauma themes but puts it in a evil dead movie. I'm personally a bit tired of these themes but I do love how they use it in burn. It takes a volatile visit with the in-laws to its extreme conclusion. The story follows Alice who goes to stay with her in laws after her husband's death. The family have a old secret though and the deadites are on the hunt. The story is darkly fun. I do love how each director of the new trilogy bring their own style to the story. This time a family drama story gone terribly wrong. Alice, our final girl here was great. Her backstory with her husband and fight to survive was awesome. I also love how they are connecting the franchise now. The ending was awesome and very reminiscent to the 2013 movie. The last battle was just awesome. Alice had a bloody battle of survival and the last line was good. The post credit scenes were well worth the wait and what else can I say except mommy's back. The characters aren't as interesting as in rise,2013 or the ash movies but they were still good. Alice is a great addition to the evil dead final guys and girls. Her last battle was awesome. The family itself were good but just not as interesting or memorable as the other characters in the series. The gore was still top notch. The kills and violence doesn't hold back at all. What these movies have taught me so far was don't go into a kitchen in a evil dead movie. So it's still great and bloody fun. Evil dead burn continues to confirm that it's one of the best horror Franchises. I love each of these movies from the ash series to the standalone ones. Burn brings a great final girl, bloody fun, an awesome final battle and a post credit scene that make me want more. So I can't wait for wrath and keep these movies coming.

Bates motel is in one word: strange. The failed tv spin off after psycho 3 is part motel repair show, ghost story, Scooby-Doo, anti suicide psa and its a hit and miss. Ignoring the sequels and set after the 1960 movie. It follows Alex as he is given the bates motel after the death of Norman bates. Alex goes to the motel to manage it with a sassy squatter. As he fixes the motel he starts seeing the ghost of Norma. Oh and there is a anti suicide psa story in the last 20ish minutes too. It's clearly a failed tv spin off. The story was clearly meant to be some kind of monster/ghost of the week kind of thing. The main issue with the story is that it's just unfocused. The repairing the motel story goes on too long. The ghost/Scooby-Doo story doesn't have enough focus. The anti suicide psa story is interesting but feels very out of place and sudden. So it's very unfocused and needed to have more of a consistent tone. The characters were fine. They were interesting enough but because the show failed you didn't have the time to get to know them. Alex was the most engaging as he navigates life outside the sanitarium. Jason Bateman has a quick role too which was a surprise. So they were fine but definitely didn't have the iconic characteristics of Norman. The movie looked fine for a tv movie. The bates motel is still a great location and the house looked good. It's definitely not the cinematic look but it's fine. It's definitely not great but not the worst. There is fun to be had but tge inconsistent tone make it a little boring at times. So I'll definitely say watch the 2013 show instead of this one.

Freddy Kruger takes a trip to Victorian London to roleplay as the phantom. Whoever thought of that deserved a raise because it was awesome. The phantom of the opera 1989 tells the classic story as a slasher movie where Eric will kill anyone for Christine. The story follows the present and past. The present follows Christine doing an audition for a role and the past tells the story of ehat happend. The past and present meet at the end with a final fight against the phantom and Christine. The story is just fun. I liked how they made the classic novel into a slasher. The character highlights were the definite highlight. The phantom was a good slasher and villian who wasn't afraid to be funny at times. Christine was a good final girl as well bringing a kirsty cotton innocence that I like. The detective was entertaining too. The kills were pretty good as well. The stalk and kill at the end when they try to rescue Christine was the best one. I also quite liked the skinned alive kill. All tge kills were just cool. The music wasn't the main focus. The little there was was good though. Phantom of the opera was a fun time. It was very entertaining and Robert England was awesome as always. Its well worth a watch.
