Joker

Works on its own, think its better with the sequel though, I can see why people dont like the sequel as they thought it wouldve been some sort of Batman vs Joker and Harley Quinn film but instead delves deeper into the mental illness of Arthur, using the musical format to explore the somewhat fantasy world Arthur has created within his mind. I guess this review shouldve been for the second one but I think the second one is actually better than the first one and deserves justice.
