Magnolia
I'm looking forward to watching this again. Paul Thomas Anderson was 29 when he wrote and directed the original screenplay of Magnolia. I truly don't understand how he can not only comprehend such human issues as forgiveness and love through pain, but also showcase them in ways that feel authentic, while also being highly entertaining, and also being 29. While most of his other films I have seen dive into the depths of a romantic relationship, a relationship built on choices and love, this one dives into family, a relationship you are born into. To be more specific, how the sins of your family manifest within you. As much as it's unfair, I think this film does a great job of showcasing that the past must be dealt with. I can't stress it enough, how unfair it is that because of someone else's choices, not only is it harder to live, but it's even harder to grow. However, this film ties all that together. There's so much more here, but I will have to dive into that on the second watch.
