There Will Be Blood
Oh boy oh boy do I know a very famous South Korean director who would just love this movie. The stand out of this film is definitely the excellent performances from Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano. They capture everything from the subtleties of how to coarse an illusion of a bond between communities, all the way to the raw aggression of emotion, that much like the oil they dig up, is sitting right below the surface building and building just waiting for the right pinprick to connect and let loose an eruption of violence. Obviously this is a shot at capitalism and the greed that comes with it. To me it also feels like at the end of the day this film is saying that there isn't really winners or losers. There are winners and there are losers, and there are also people who are content. Which unlike the winners and the losers who get there "happiness" through others approval or even beating the person beside them. The content get there satisfaction from themselves.
