Saw
This film has a very good storytelling aspect, utilising flashbacks. It develops the lore behind the characters throughout the film as the characters also meet each other for the first time (whilst in a high stress situation).
The stress experienced by characters in the film is mirrored in its tempo, so you should be happy to hear that the movie does not drag on as other films may.
As for the gore, more sensitive viewers should not be afraid as it’s rather minimal. Saw is a more story-based film rather than bloodshed. This is because Saw was not made just for enjoyment but has a message carried through which is identical to what the killer wants to teach the characters they trap. Frankly, I believe that its message is that evil is all around us (even in those we trust such as doctors) and that those people will suffer the consequences of their actions at the hand of the universe. It’s a hard-hitting truth of why you should be “good”: your poor choices impact others (such as the doctor’s wife and daughter) and will therefore not only cause your own suffering but others as well.
Or maybe I’m just a person on Letterboxd who is waffling on 🤷♀️ You should watch this film and decide for yourself and form your own opinion!
That’s my take on it
