“I wonder a lot of things that don’t matter anymore”

An exploration of ballroom culture, gay men, trans women and all the greys in between in New York City in the late 80s from the perspective of the people participating. Through this, we can learn basic terms like shade, vogueing, house, reading, etc. but also discuss the complexities of race, gender, sexuality within the community - the uniqueness of each person's identity but also the similarities we share such as the stigma and limitations put upon the community and the ways we learn to snuff out our own dreams to assimilate to societal expectations. We can really see the constant changing of trends and style in the community and the intersection between marginalization and sex work. "I want so much more"

Drug use in the LGBT community, identity/self-expression, gender non-conformity, the meaning of life, the importance of community, sex work and trauma, the importance of rioting for the community. This film has everything, and truly feels like a piece reflective of the lives of its characters while also using beautiful, non-chronological story-telling and experimental elements to emphasize the emotions of the main character and using fictional additions to create a more fascintating ending.
