“Nothing is more beautiful than shadows” As the older sibling with mental illness this hit home for me. A beautiful story about family, generational trauma, mental illness, aging, and forgiveness. Stellan Skarsgård never misses and both Renate Reinsve and Elle Fanning were right there with him. As for my favorite shot of the whole film, it had to be when Gustav’s face kept blending into Nora’s and Rachel’s. I think this did a great job showing his internal struggle between keeping the role as he intended with Nora or going forward and making his passion project by settling with Rachel. However my favorite scene had to be “I had you” - made me want to sob.
