Perfect Blue

this movie had me so confused as it kept developing the plot. i couldn’t truly tell you what i watched. i am not sure if the story is entirely about one character or the other. what i do know is that it’s a commentary about parasocial relationships and the effects of the fame on a person’s psyche. i was hooked the entire time. really confused about the relevance of the r*pe scene. added trauma for character development? i don’t see it’s relevance in the greater context of the movie. i was so surprised about the end and how rumí was in a psychiatric hospital and mima confirms to the audience she is herself. despite the confusing plot, i do think it was worth my time. it’s pretty short. i don’t know what else to say. i wouldn’t watch it again because some scenes made me uncomfortable like i need the twilight palette cleanser.
