The Fall Guy
Truly a love letter to cinema.
I remember seeing this on opening weekend when it first came out — and rewatching it the moment it dropped digitally.
I also remember when it was first announced… and how it got delayed again and again.
This film is beautiful — and probably the reason stunts are finally being added to the Oscars.
After the movie, I looked up the director’s other work — and it all made sense. The blend of comedy and action was so signature.
I call this a love letter to cinema because it speaks to you about movies — whether it’s what a certain shot means, or how much work it takes to make a film.
Not to mention, the movie is kind of about making movies. And the A-list cast just elevates it even more.
Sure, when people say “love letter to cinema,” they usually point to:
• Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
• Babylon
• The Fabelmans
And those are 100% valid. But I don’t think this film gets talked about enough.
And the soundtrack? Holy peak.
Looking back, I think this is the film that made me want to be a filmmaker.
