I May Destroy You
Letterboxd should update the cast for this series. I like this show overall. I finished episode 8 and have 4 episodes left.
I feel like this show is about embracing imperfection while figuring out when to scrutinize imperfection.
Heavy topics are here and amongst the realism I find it to be kind of odd in moments. Like the 3 main friends seem like they weren’t allowed to party until they were in their 30s. In terms of how they act when they want to turn up. I think if you’ve been to parties or bars/clubs since legal drinking age you would learn about the social do’s and don’ts . But to be fair it can take years of negative and positive experiences to realize this. Not everyone reacts to drugs and alcohol the same way, but it's totally different when someone deceptive wants you in a vulnerable state. Moments like Zain getting called out at the writers summit had me howling but of course he deserved some kind of consequence. Kwame and the scene where he’s r* was intense for a couple reasons. Because he brought in a seemingly straight guy to a hook up for a cuck session. Even though Kwame kissed Damon, I felt like Damon was trolling….insane. I don’t like how Kwame is written as a hyperactive gay man. He seems unnaturally addicted to Grindr.
Anyways I shall see what happens. Biaggio looks like a Yemeni Cheese merchant.
Edit: There was a lot of character growth just in the last 4 episodes for Arabella and even Kwame. Shout out Terry and Ben. Ben is a chiller man. Not to wowed by the ending but they showed 3 different scenarios happening with Arabella’s perpetrator. I personally think nothing happened with him, as by the end it was more about her healing from finishing her book. Idk I think some people will absolutely love this. Conservative types I don’t think so but who cares about that. I wouldn’t watch it again but I’d recommend it to other people.
