Nastassja Kinski. Greatest performance from a woman I’ve seen in my life. To have such poise for her age in a film like this is rare to say the least. She’s a genius. Worth the 3 hour watch. I try not to get caught up in the personal controversies of figures like Polanski it takes away from what was put to screen. The cast and crew are not a part of my life (it's healthy not to be parasocial). No diddy. The Angel Clare take. Watching Tess farm in the winter was devastating. There is a dark energy in some scenes take it or leave it. I think a criticism could be that it won’t hold some peoples attention and that it is slow but I think it will make you feel and react internally the whole runtime. “All is vanity”..
