“…” First time I’ve walked out in a long time. Looks good. Decent cast. Well shot. I’m not totally against a dialogue-less action flick but it moves soooooooo slow so that the whole theater can follow what’s going on. It feels like it’s moving at half speed. It’s like the camera was taking downers while recording. Fuck it’s so boring.

“Yeah, well, ‘the worst’ is where the money is.” Has a lot of great elements to it. The sets look expensive and most of the action is pretty interesting. The mud planet is pretty much the grittiest five minutes of combat in the series. The train heist is inventive. After that point it really slows down and turns into a pretty boring cross, double-cross, triple-cross finale. It might work better if Dryden Vos and Crimson Dawn was more fleshed out. The L3/Lando thing was weird and I don’t like thinking about it. The Enfys Nest ambush trick was half baked as well. Overall it’s a smaller but mostly exciting story with some cool set pieces. I don’t know why it had to be a Han Solo origin story. A little bit of mystery is a good thing sometimes. There was too much of that fan service, Leo pointing at the tv screen meme, type of writing to it that really slowed things down and changed the tone from fun crime movie to schlocky marvel type adventure.

Just really ugly. Seeing some of the clone wars on screen in this fashion would have been cool though in any other context. I get the tv series is beloved and gets good or whatever but if you’re watching 200 episodes of this stuff I will never relate to you.

“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed that is.” I remember my dad taking my sister and I out of school the day this came out to watch it. He said it might be a little frightening and tough to watch and you know what, order 66 and the killing of the younglings is still disturbing. I think this one still works best for me because it maintains its tone throughout the run. *Phantom Menace *has terrible comedy clashing with political intrigue. *Attack of the Clones *a terrible romance with a noir aspect. This one is very dark and dramatic and despite some awful dialogue conveys its feelings appropriately. Anakin’s turn and the fight with Obi-Wan at the end is sad. You really do feel, despite everything, this great shame of wasted potential in Anakin. What is this trilogy? Wildly creative and auteur. Lucas had a vision and executed it against all odds. The technology did not exist to do what he wanted and he made it serviceable. The epic tragedy feels fulfilling despite his lack of grasp on human speech or emotions. His political beliefs are expressed exactly as incoherently as they exist in his mind. A strange blend of love and hate for democratic institutions, skepticism toward labor solidarity, and hate for militarism. He’s a tough guy to nail down. This trilogy is uniquely flawed, in effect. Artificial by eye but embarrassingly earnest in its intentions. Where the Disney trilogy feels like film by committee, by focus group, and devoid of originality (mostly), this is its exact opposite.
