Oldboy

Not surprised that I loved this, it absolutely lived up to the hype. Not as heavy on the gory revenge story as I thought it would be, and im kinda glad it wasn't. I like the detective work scenes and how it gradually builds rather than being too action-y. Going in I knew there was a twist but I was disappointed when it was revealed why Lee Woo Jin did it, Because I thought that was the twist. but then they double back right when you get your footing, and knock you to the floor with a devastating, skin crawling plot twist. The revenge story is usually lead by a strong-headed individual who doesn't flinch at anything, someone that is untouchable. But seeing the reveal tear him down into the polar opposite in seconds was a incredible realism spin on the general revenge story. Also I don't know if im fucked for saying this, but when he's acting like a dog, I couldn't help but chuckle.
