Rope
hey, first alfred hitchcock movie!
what an interesting movie. i was honestly snoring at the first half but i quickly locked in by how it turned to have a really powerful and important message about how the two men act on the belief that they are "supermen" (a very much corrupted interpretation of the Nietzschean philosophy) and are exempted from morality. i also was hooked by how the film shows the complete hubris of the boys, viewing murder as a game, as the "perfect crime", as a way to taunt others and prove their superiority. love the dynamic too with Brandon and Phillip. there was definitely some homoerotic shit going on here but I didn't feel it myself personally, partially because of 40's censorship. but i adore everything about this, especially the long unbroken takes. really cool movie to think about once in a while.
