> ***“Movies are dreams that you never forget”*** Writer / Director 🎥 I’ll see you at the movies!

> ***“Life found a way.” *** A masterpiece. One of the greatest films I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching and each time I revisit it, it just becomes clear that this is flawless. Spielberg is a master of the craft, the blocking here is astonishing and the tension infused here is spine-chilling yet the wondrous feeling of awe is never lost with the dinosaurs. Truly an all-timer. Rest in Peace Sam Neill. Your portrayal of Alan Grant remains iconic.

Had very high hopes for this, and once again Christopher Nolan does not disappoint. Right from the get go, the sense of scale and grandiosity of this epic is felt. The sheer spectacle of this in 70mm IMAX is nothing short of breathtaking. The performances really help to ground this, with John Leguizamo, Zendaya and Elliot Page being my standouts. Everyone is operating at such a high level, bringing such humanity to these characters. Ludwig Göransson does something incredible with the score here that really pays off in that third act and when it happens, it’s genuinely levitating stuff. Speaking of which, the entire third act just soars to new heights. Nolan gives it everything he’s got and you’re left in pure awe watching it unfold. Can’t wait to revisit this, especially after finishing the poem as it’s truly one of the best of the year, and a cinematic experience I shan’t forget.

Had an incredibly fun time with this. The cast all play off each other perfectly, balancing the comedic elements of the script with drama nicely. Olivia Wilde finds interesting ways to make the apartment feel cinematic and exciting for the viewer. She definitely has an eye for making a film look cinematic which I appreciate. Very happy this didn’t disappoint.

I’m going to say something controversial. This isn’t as bad as people make out. It’s by no means great, but it’s a very middle of the road capeflick. There’s some fun action set-pieces here and Martin Campbell knows how to direct the hell out of them. The VFX hold up better than I recalled, although the skintight CGI suits are still a questionable decision. Ryan Reynolds actually is a pretty solid choice for Hal Jordan. And this is a time when he could remember how to act. It’s not a fantastic performance but it’s solid enough. Overall, this film gets too much slack. It’s not the best the genre has to offer but it’s far from being offensively bad. I have a soft spot for it, sue me.
