The Brutalist
To start, Adrien Brody became László. His performance made me feel like (compared to somebody like Chalamet with Dylan) he was playing a real human being who once existed. He deserved the Oscar. That’s that. Everyone else was exceptional too, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn all fantastic.
Now the cinematography. Was next level. The shots would’ve been beautiful if shot on a Samsung galaxy, but the VistaVision makes it next level for me.
Also the score…. It is a masterwork in it of itself. Sometimes you feel relaxed, other times you feel in danger, and times you feel those MAJESTIC HORNS.
Now with that said, sometimes I found it unclear with what was happening, which made the plot resonate with me less. This is probably a watch 2-3 times movie, but I don’t have the time for that. It makes sense and maybe I’m just stupid but I was like “is he being raped” or is László just choking or sum. Also there were some weird cuts that I noticed, that lowk just took me out, but I got sucked right back in so it’s ok.
“But it’s Zionist” 👆🤓
Shut up.
Appreciate the art. Even if you HATE to the people it depicts.
