My Dinner with Andre
What a great script, I don't know what was coming from the real actors talking and what was written for a character. It is so interesting to really feel what they are talking about, the realism that exists in their personas, the place where they say these things and make the conversation so fluent.
Stanislavski would feel that this whole film is a complete study of the character to act, two people not acting as if they were acting, or acting as if they weren't and unwinding what it is to unfold. At least I found it brilliant.
The detail of the conversation to be so intense and so fleeting at the same time, that a simple conversation with an old friend can touch on different topics, insecurities, resolutions of life. It is quite an experience. These are two different perspectives if life colliding and making you question the same things that they are talking, you are in fact a member of that dinner table.
I think it may be one of those movies that one must see at different stages of life to question certain issues. About how I am living certain things, if I am genuinely experiencing them, the friends I keep, what I enjoy doing and why. What a pleasant dinner it is to be surprised to find something unexpected in such a simple gathering ritual.
