Oldboy, never in a million years would I have believed that this action-thriller would hit this hard. Wow, Park Chan-Wook—this was fantastic.
This introspective epic is so brilliant, a meticulously crafted vengeance story that is perfect. It’s brutal, terrible and vulgar, while also being deeply tragic and unsettling in its complexity.
It combines moments of explosive action with stillness in such a striking way, showing just how far people are willing to go to protect their loved ones.
A masterpiece.
