Nosferatu
Robert Eggers shows once again why he is the absolute best at what he does. Nosferatu is everything Eggers has perfected throughout his films all in one and it is amazing. The entire film is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully dark. Huge wide shots of mountains and gothic architecture create really lush visuals that really impressed me. Gothic horror is so back I will think about the cinematography in this film for a while. All of the effects on Count Orlok looked great, and Bill Skarsgard is awesome- especially his voice. To my knowledge Skarsgard was trained to lower his voice by a full octave to properly do the Count’s voice which is so cool. Every main actor was class and fit their roles perfectly, with Lily Rose Depp definitely stealing the show with one of her best performances. I was really excited about Willem Dafoe being in this and enjoyed his character a lot. I can say the same for Ralph Ineson too because his voice is awesome. There were so many bits that left me with a big stupid grin that just made me happy like recreations of shots from the original film and certain scenes and performance moments. Eggers was faithful to the source material, without losing his signature style that makes his films so loveable. I went into the cinema with high expectations and was not disappointed. Seeing it on opening night in the UK made it that bit better too. Robert Eggers is well and truly unmatched and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
