Hacksaw Ridge
*“Waiting for what?"
"Private Doss to finish praying for us, sir."*
Really supprised to see the hate for this film on here.
Do I like war movies? Nope. Am I religious? Absolutely not.
But this may just be my favourite film.
No it isn’t subtle, because neither is war. And the depictions here make you feel like you’re running into battle with the soldiers themselves.
But the war scenes aren’t what make this film good, it’s the performances. Andrew Garfield is INCREDIBLE and I’m very happy he got the Oscar nomination, but disappointed he lost.
No this isn’t a Christian propaganda film, this is a story, you’re told his beliefs not told to believe them with him. But his pure resilience is something you can’t help but be inspired by.
The moments of respect Doss finally earns and the pure inspiration he ends up sharing is beautiful.
I’m so grateful this film was made so I could learn of this incredible story.
