Skyfall
For me, this is THE Bond film, and I’m surprised its rating is so low.
As I’m making my way back through the Craig films before playing Dying Light this one naturally comes after the pure mess of Quantum of Solace. Which makes it even better.
This is cinema in comparison. And they got everything right
As soon as the film starts you can feel the quality improvements. Sam Mendes and Sir Rodger Deakins have made it look incredible.
As soon as that Adele song stars and the beautiful title sequence begins you know this film is going to be different.
The story is brilliant, yet never once leaves you confused or lost. The film being made in 2012 means the tech is advanced enough that the hacking storyline can work and 14 years later it still holds up. Javier Bardem is superb and his villain remains one of the most memorable for a reason.
The writing is fabulous, Craig finally gets more to give emotionally which felt lacking in the previous 2. He has chemistry with all characters, It’s great to finally visit Bond and M’s relationship and any scene with Ben Whishaw is brilliant!
So much care has gone into this film, cementing it as the best Bond film for years to come.
