Silence
This film isn’t for everyone. Its difficult subject matter and deliberate pacing don’t make for the easiest watch. But great are the rewards for a patient viewer.
Career-best turns from Garfield, Driver, and Neeson. A powerful story of faith in the midst of persecution, and a film that takes the weight of that persecution seriously. Scorsese masterfully adapts the nuances of the original novel and brings forth one of his greatest films to date.
