The Devil's Backbone

Not my first Del Toro film, and admittedly have not seen many… but this one is the first I s that made me love his style. There is so much going on here to like. The writing is incredible. The story plays out perfectly, doesn’t drag. There is consistently something exciting going on. On the other hand some scenes are slow and melodic and that plays perfectly into what is going on with the scene. It’s a fantastic showcase in Guillermo’s style. And wow what a beautiful shot film. At parts I thought I was watching a Tarkovsky film the way the camera would pan.
