choreographed chaos. finding peace in the abyss of disarray. foreign, beautiful, and familiar. melancholically funny. cold, gray, modernist and dystopian, but still enveloped in life. i can’t believe how much this movie communicates without saying words. and when it does give words, they’re mostly incoherent, but everything is still understood. wes anderson expanded the playbook engineered by this movie and its counterparts.
this was the second movie i ever put on my watchlist two years ago.
this movie is everything.
