I have no words.
I love detective films, I love the rush you get when finding out more information or discovering more clues and this film has more of that than any other.
At first I thought Brad Pitt’s character was going to be a bit of comedic relief in a very serious film. And at first he was. But as the film progressed you could see his character change into a serious, dark person. Especially in the final, infamous, “What’s in the box?” scene. I think Pitt did a fantastic job at showing this character development and is one of his best roles ever.
I must also give props to Morgan Freeman. His character is the definition of cool, calm and collected and Freeman embodies that perfectly. I don’t think you could have casted a better person for the role.
Lastly, I want to say I am a massive of David Fincher’s cinematography. Every shot in this film feels purposeful and thought out. You could really tell that there wasn’t any detail that you weren’t or were meant to see. I loved the final scene of how when filming Pitt and Freeman, the camera shakes, showing that they are losing control. Whereas, when filming, Kevin Spacey, the camera is still and composed, showing he has the control.
Overall, this film is fantastic and it goes straight into the list of my all time favourites.
