The Shining
“Places are like people: Some Shine and some don’t.” The Shining is one of if not the best horror movies of all time. There’s pretty much nothing wrong when it comes to this masterpiece. Stanley Kubrick gives us yet another art piece of cinema with his symmetrical wide shots and bright red colors in almost every shot. Jack Nicholson gives easily his best performance ever playing the psycho Jack Torrance. He makes you feel as if he’s looking, talking, and even hunting you. Shelley Duvall also gives an amazing a realistic performance as the terrified Wendy Torrance. The soundtrack in the Shining makes the whole atmosphere more disturbing and suspenseful. It’s a slow terrifying burn of cinema that’ll leave you amazing, disturbed, and confused. From the opening scene of a lake and forests surrounding it down to the last second showing something just as simple as a picture. You will not be disappointed.
