Interstellar
I’ve always been such a big Nolan fan so my opinion on his films come a little biased. The creativity and originality to his ideas are in my opinion unmatched. While narratively and character wise sometimes he may falter, the weight of the idea shines through. I still remember seeing Interstellar in theaters for the first time and being blown away by the authenticity of the wormhole/black hole sequences, despite obviously traversing them never having been done before. I come back to Interstellar ten years later more appreciating the emotional depth of Interstellar. Murphy and Coop’s relationship is perhaps Nolan’s best throughout his filmography, or at least the one that carries the most weight for me. The scenes between the two always pull on the heart strings just right for me. Hans Zimmer’s score is some of his best, and one of the best for a film ever. Without the score this film would not nearly be as epic and impactful as it is. Within Nolan’s top 5 for me. Just narrowly behind the best. 8.7/10
